Stitched and ready to wear

Many Pakistani suits are sold unstitched, as a set of printed or embroidered fabric that you take to a tailor. Indian shoppers face the same choice between dress material and a readymade salwar kameez. Everything on this page is already sewn and finished. Shagufta's own notes call it tailor stitch, and the listings say Stitched. It is the easy answer when you don't have time to find a tailor before an event, or when you are buying a gift and can't hand over fabric to be made up.

Co-ord sets, palazzo suits and kurtis

The 2-piece suits are a kameez with matching trousers, which Indian stores sell as co-ord sets. Here they come in floral linen, lawn and georgette, alongside a pink georgette palazzo set with a rounded hem and a silk palazzo dress. Because the trousers are cut to match, a 2-piece set looks finished without any planning. Add a dupatta from the dupattas section if you want a 3-piece look. The stitched kurtis, in silk, georgette and linen, wear on their own with jeans or a shalwar.

Pre-shrunk lawn and linen

Shagufta notes that the lawn and linen 2-piece sets were shrunk before they were stitched, which helps them keep their size when you wash them. Lawn and linen are cool for spring and summer, georgette and silk dress up for evenings, and the Bin Saeed khaddar 2-piece maxi dress is the warm one for winter. Wash all of them in cold water and dry them in the shade.

Getting the fit right

A stitched suit is already cut, so the numbers on the listing matter. Most give the chest, hips and length; compare them with a suit that fits you well, and use the size guide if you are between sizes. There are pieces from XS to 2XL. When you have found yours, tap Order on WhatsApp, and Shagufta confirms the shipping cost before anything is sent. A suit, a kurti and a shalwar can all go in the bag and travel to her in a single message.

Questions people ask

What does ready to wear mean for Pakistani suits?

It means the suit is already stitched, so you can wear it as it arrives. Unstitched suits are sold as fabric and need a tailor to make them up.

Should I buy a stitched suit or an unstitched one?

A stitched suit saves the time and cost of a tailor and lets you see the finished cut before you buy. This page shows only stitched pieces, with measurements on the listing, so you can check the fit first.

Will a stitched suit shrink when I wash it?

Shagufta notes that the lawn and linen 2-piece sets were shrunk before stitching. For any suit, wash in cold water and dry in the shade to keep shrinking to a minimum.

Is a co-ord set the same as a 2-piece suit?

Near enough. A co-ord set is a matching top and bottom, and a Pakistani 2-piece suit is a kameez with matching trousers. Neither includes a dupatta.

Are there plus size stitched suits?

Yes, there are stitched pieces in XL and 2XL here, and the plus size page collects every XL and 2XL piece in the shop.

Every piece $11 to $45
